ONE OF ONE SHELLS

Every summer of my childhood, my family made the same trip, down to the beach in Maryland. It wasn’t just our tradition. It started with my grandparents, passed to my parents, and I carried it forward with my own children. I remember walking the shoreline as a little girl, searching the sand for shells, hoping to find one with a hole already worn through by the water so I could string it onto a necklace.

Now, decades later, I drill my own holes. What started as a little girl’s search on the shoreline became a lifetime of making.

Every shell piece I create still carries that same beach, that same search, that same girl….one of one, just like all of us.
